UVTV Wisconsin vs. Stanford Nationals Semifinals
I've watched both of these videos over and over again. Watching high-level college ultimate and watching my team lose has gotten me fired up before practice and tournaments more than anything else. These are the teams that we should be talking about, not LPC or Claremont. That's the level of play we should be aiming to surpass this spring, with the same level of intensity and drive. Watching Sockeye vs. Buzz Bullets tells me nothing about my team or how we need to play in order to win College Nationals. Seeing clips of Ring of Fire vs. GOAT from Club Nationals might be fun, but it does nothing for me. I won't be matching up against Chris Hinkle or John Hassell or Ben Wiggins. I'll be matching up against players like Muffin and Mac Taylor and Clark Bishop. Until then, nothing to do but practice and hit the weights.

who is talking about claremont and lpc besides you? (this is just a question)
In case you did not notice; LPC was full of ringers at this tournament, they will lose a lot of those guys come spring.
I also saw you and a few other Stanford guys get the balls skied off of you by Claremont young kids.
I was referring to casual comments people sometimes make at practice. A lot of times it's the rookies who haven't seen any of the really good teams and don't know any better who think that LPC (who has beaten us three times, with none of the games really close) should be our rival/focus come the spring.
Focus on Claremont and LPC is something I'd imagine teams like UCLA, Arizona, UCSD, UC-Davis, etc. do.
As for Sean Ryan, yes LPC had some "ringers", but they were also missing a couple eligible guys. And yes, we did get roasted in the air by Claremont and UCSB. We'll see if the same thing happens in the spring.
I think that Bret is the only guy LPC will be loosing (and he wasn't playing on Saturday), the rest of them will take enough classes to use that 5th year on a community college team.
As per focus, I think you're right, but I also think that teams like UCLA, Arizona, UCSD, and UC-Davis shouldn't be focusing on Claremont and LPC either. Unless you're a new team or a B team you should always be thinking and talking about the top dogs, that' you get somewhere.
P.S. Didn't Oregon give Wisconsin a better game at nationals last year than Colorado?

Re: PS#1: Short answer is yes, BUT Colorado really disappointed in the finals. They also take a lot more risks than Oregon, and Wisconsin punished them in a way most teams can't.

there are two red-heads i hadnt seen play before (with claremont) at SR. one of them just throws it, the other i think is the one you were talking about. he jacked it alot in the stanford game, skied a group of guys in the endzone (i think you were guarding him on an iso). but then he got destroyed by ezra.
